Default exhaust header help ID?

We just pulled the motor and tranny out of my GP. the cast exhaust manifolds have the following #'s

9797 73-1
J21 8?

9779495-1
K148

they both seem to be in pretty good shape but we noticed that someone had kinda boogered up the exhaust head pipe to get them to fit...in x referencing the #'s from Wallace Racing, it appears they are probably from a Ram Air Firebird. would this be the reason that the head pipes were hammered to fit or just a bad exhaust system chosen?

any feedback would be greatly appreciated...are GP exhaust manifolds vastly different from FB's?

I just want my car to go back together correctly once the motor is rebuilt. If I decide to go with a performance oriented exh system I was hoping that they could build the head pipe to fit these manifolds too.

thanks...Jeff

The RA manifolds are closer to the ground than the stock manifolds so if they used the stock headpipes they would be down too low for sure. To use those manifolds your going to have to make something up to use in a GP, either custom bent or use the front parts for a RA car and splice them to the GP system. Kind of hard to tell for sure without a picture at least. Point being there are no instances where the factory used RA manifolds in a GP body so there is nothing stock that you can use.
