sold most of the project cars to concentrate on ones that were neglected and lonely. 67 Tempest Sprint Sport coupe factory a/c and a long list of options 68 Firebird Sprint many options and adding more 68 Firebird Sprint,almost no options this is going to be fun

The 69 TA tribute in the last pic is a PY member's formerly a Cammer, now with a KRE headed 461. He still has the motor mounts and stands if someone needs them. |

I've struggled with what to do with mine. At one point I was going to yank it for a V8 but I have a few of those now. Was going to install a Sprint Engine which I have one.
Now I'm thinking of leaving it bone stock. It's a base car, only option is a power top. OHC-6 monojet, 3 speed floor shift, drum brakes. I even have the orginal dog dish rims and caps, might put those back on as well. We still drive it but it could use restoring, and I'm seeing more and more restored base cars since they're so rare anymore. What's more valuable? A non matching 400 Firebird convertible or matching base model OHC 6 Convertible? Now, what's more rare? Gordon |

Gordon - if you ever want to sell that car, please keep me in mind. Your car is like my first Pontiac (2nd car I owned as a teenager) except mine was a coupe and a 4 speed sprint with hood tach. Same color combo! Autumn Bronze with pearl interior - beautiful!
That car kick started my career in both Pontiac restoration and racing! to answer your question, the most valuable would be a cool V8 and 4 or 5 speed trans, but what would be super cool (and my vote) is to make it a sprint clone with 4 or 5 speed. I'm building a sprint engine for a guy, so if you need a shop to do the rebuild let me know Paul

The Sprint Clone has always been my favorite idea, not sure they even made a Sprint Bird Convertible in Autumn Bronze so it'd be unique. I have the parts, even have an M-20 and 8.2 Posi to put behind it. But when I was at the Charlotte Autofair this year a guy had a near perfect 63 Nova Convertible. A base 6 car but fully restored. That started to sway me toward the bone stock look. It just looked so different and stood out in a line of V8's, SS Clones, Pro Street and PT Nova's. I'll probably be emailing you at some point to talk about the Sprint engine when the time comes. |

NO OHC-6 stuff anymore (Can only sell it once). In every situation, the Y-pipe was in excellent shape. Can likely assist in Tech resource/info....Never understood how to avoid the exhaust leak under the carb/exhaust interface.
69 Firebird SPRINT 4-speed, Leather interior, WS-4, Saw-tooth gauges, tach, AM/FM, 3.55 Posi. Sold to a BANNED PY Member who has done nothing but store it. 69 FIREBIRD SPRINT (junker, interior gone. Just kept the saw-tooth gauge dash, Sold engine to PY member in Canada, sold the 3.23  osi rear)69 Firebird OHC-6 1bbl: Verdoro Green. Added Trans-Am hood, Rear Wing, added the Saw-tooth dash, turned in to a 455/TH400/3:31 12-Bolt; ran 12.0 ETs per signature. Sold to PY member (low poster) in Long Island. |

Can anyone tell me what 3 speed trans was used behind the OHC-6? Was it a muncie, saginaw or could it be the dearbord toploader? Thanks guys. Mark L

SAGINAW...
...is the only 3spd ST I'm aware was used on/with the OHC 6.
This unit is out of a low mile 67'

Kind of what I expected. If it's cast iron then they are saginaw transmissions. If alumium then a muncie 3 speed. I'm guessing the cast iron saginaw. I was hoping that they had used the dearborn toploader HD 3 speed in those cars but they probably didn't think they would break the saginaw. Thanks guys for your replies. Much appreciated. Mark L

2.85 first gear Saggy
most of the parts are same as the 4 speed Saggy Saggy was considered a medium duty trans,used behind SBC V-8 in all but hipo

I've got a '66 LeMans Sprint Post Coupe... factory air conditioning, 3spd manual. Will be adding NOS rally gauges, rally Is, head rest seats, AM/FM and tissue dispenser I just happen to have lying around. Original candlight cream with black interior. All there and waiting for restoration...
It's great to find these cammer sites... nice to be able to share and read others stories. Next I'll be looking for a '66 Tempest Sprint HT with red interior to build as the car Royal Pontiac used to test out the possibilities of a Royal Bobcat Sprint. I have the Man A Fre tri-power intake already, just need the car. I just finished a '67 GTO convertible HO 4spd car... can't wait to get to the Sprint(s). |
