What was your last true great daily driver?
Years ago before kids, it was my 70 gto 455 4 speed ragtop, drove it through good and bad weather, but my most comfortable daily driver was my 70 grand prix sj,455 ho looked like hell with all the dents on it but it would fly when you got on it, what a comfortable car, swear it hooked up better than my gto.
In a perfect world I wouldnt mind still driving these cars to and from everywhere. I been seriously thinking about a 87 Grand national as the next daily driver but gotta get realistic with the kids, who knows? |

I'd have to say my 1992 Pontiac Bonneville SSEI.
The power of the supercharged engine after years of driving normally aspirated 4 or 6 cylinder cars was impressive. For a large car (for it's time) it handled very well. The interior appointments with the 12 way adjustable seats made it a very nice road car. It could hit over 30 MPG on the highway. 150,000+ miles before we sent it down the highway. |

My last truely great DD was my 78 Trans Am. Wife and kids got it for me back in 2000. It did a great job of hauling me around to work everyday.

66 Plymouth Valiant Signet 273 with A.C. that car was a workhorse and got good mileage. When another car was broke the Valiant would always start even after sitting for a year or 2. I miss that car.

I really like my current DD, a 2007 BMW 335i coupe. It's got a few modifications and has 400 hp/420 ft-lbs now. Gotta love turbos. It's just the right size and it's really comfortable. Gets 25 mpg and runs the 1/4 mile in the 12's when necessary

Well, since you didn't specify brand it would have to be my current daily driver. 1999 Ford F-350 7.3 CC Dually 4x4 Lariat, at 411,000 it runs just as well as when I ordered it in 1998.
Still has no squeaks or rattles and is the most depedable vehicle I have ever owner, it's also a trailer queen, meaning that over HALF of those miles have been towing something. |

My 79 T/A after I yanked the 403/th350 the factory put in it and replaced it with a 455/th400. With 3.23 gears it would run 12's and drive anywhere in any weather, and still be able to cruise at 75-MPH. Some of the most fun I had with it though was coming home at night when I worked the 4-12 shift in downtown Baltimore...seeing all the Negroes in town scatter like cockroaches when you flick the light on everytime I romped on the throttle coming down Fayette St was a riot. They apparently didn't know how to read "don't walk" signs, and I made the best of it (LOL).

Winder aside; the '79 T/A I have now. Not bad for a car that my friend and I built right out of highschool back in '90 (it went back to Texas into storage in his moms garage until just a couple years ago & then I bought it )
I've been averaging 15 mpg with 3.08s cruising at 70-75

My 2007 Mustang has been a great car! Haven't had any issues with, just turned 62K on it and surprisingly just now needs tires. The car rides and handles great and is a blast to drive just like the day it was when I bought it new 4 years ago, plus when its clean, its a nice looking ride.
My 2003 Dodge Ram has also been a great vehicle. I have over 143K on it and split my driving between the 2 vehicles. Unlike others who complain about Chrysler products, I'll replace this truck with another one except it will be a 3/4 or a 1 ton diesel.

89 Honda Prelude. Ran it 140K with the original clutch and brakes.
Fun little car that never let me stranded. Miss that little thing.

My 2000 GTP Daytona Pace Car is hands-down the best car I have ever owned. It runs mid-13s on street tires at over 101 mph and I just recorded 30.2 mpg on a highway trip. It has a heated driver seat, power everything and handles like a go-cart. I couldn't be happier.

My 1977 Olds Cutlass Supreme Brougham. I sold it in 2001. Great driver. Everything worked, everything origional and unrestored when sold. Very comfortable on long trips. My truck now, is not as comfortable as that old car. Course, it`s a truck vs. a car.

1985 S10 with a 2.8 V6. Yes, that 2.8. 5spd transmission. I bought it new in 85 and got rid of it in 98 with only 85,000 miles on the odometer. 3 miles to the office and 3 miles back was it's life. Never got over 45mph on those days. Never got hot enough to boil water out of the oil. One set of front brakes. Original clutch. Paint was falling off of it. It leaked something from everything. Hot outside? Cold outside? No matter, it would crank and run and the a/c would cool or the heat would heat.
It was ugly, leaked, interior cracked, bad paint, it cranked every time and I could afford it...........

My current DD, '07 Dodge Charger R/T, Road and Track Package, has been the best car I've owned. I bought it brand new and just turned 110K miles. I've not had any issues with the car whatsoever with it only needing new tires and regular maintenance. I'm hoping for another 110K+.

1994 Buick Roadmaster (aka 1994-1996 Caprice and Fleetwood). Does everything well. Comfy, safe, 25 mpgs, good power, good stock stereo, handles with decent shocks. Weak point is the frames get soft with road salt, brake lines go. 4L60e acts up at 140k--they're known for it, I guess. I have another still going strong at 192k. Will stick with 'em.

I've never had a truly inspiring DD but my 98 Grand Caravan has gotten me where I need to go, when I need to be there. Has never left me stranded and has been to 30+ states when we used to go on family road trips. Last spring I drove it to South Padre Texas and back with no troubles and good fuel economy. A few of the newer cars in our group had problems (2 lost fuel pumps, suspect bad gas, another had a bad starter).
One day I'll move south and be able to DD the gto. After another restoration to make it right, it should be a great driver. I already drive it as often as I can during the summer and it never fails to bring a smile to my face.

I'm still driving my ole' pickup -
Just turned 25 this month; 195,000 miles; 4.3L V6, 4 speed manual/overdrive, 3.73 gears. Gets 22 mpg and is the most pleasant vehicle I own - smooth at any speed, brakes feel perfect, steering is perfect. Need to get the A/C fixed - next spring. K
