pretty interesting read but I dont understand why they are doing it. For looks? one guy suggests that hedman states thier paint job is to protect the header in storage. is it for protection? I dont get it?

Nothing about durability. and itd only on the outside what about protection on the inside? Presuming that matters.

It's basically baked-on, silver colored grease. Whatever....

I can tell you using the spray on for crank journals and cylinder walls for long term storage works really good.

maybe. but it would not be my first choice, not even top five choices and I would never use it as assembly lube, nor would I use it anywhere near the internls of a running engine. and as if thats not enouh to condemn it I would only use ite sparingly on spark plug threads and keep it away from electrodes

make absolutely sure you remove all traces of it from any engine component befor yo assemble it together

Not talking about for assembly lube just long term storage. Doesn't wipe off as easily as white grease.

Kept my 409 stuff in good shape in my dad's garage for 20+ years even when he kept pool chlorine in there that ate up their bicycles.

its to take the place of header paint (which doesnt work) and dries hard to the touch, not greasey. works as good as factory coating at a fraction of the cost

Cool idea to try on the lawn mower first.
