Default Any Houston area Tuners?

I absolutely suck at engine tuning, and my combination needs tuning. I've got an off idle stumble that I'd love to get rid of. I've read a ton of material off of the internet, but I'd love to learn under the guiding hand of someone who knows what they're doing. ( It's just the way my brain works, I retain better while being shown something )

I live in Pasadena, ( Southeast side of Houston )

Thanks.

Britt

I would be happy to help you if you can drive it to Magnolia. My work schedule is a little crazy, but I can call and let you know when I am in if it will help. 281-389-6150 David Sober

Appreciate your help. She's not quite street legal, so I'm sticking to around the block and such.

Dave is the man when it comes to tuning.
There's another guy in Baytown who I would recommend as well, Lee Atkinson.
He goes by "Lee" here on PY.

I forgot about Lee,that or maybe I had him confused with Dave?

Both guys know their stuff, but yeah Lee has the chassis dyno.

So yeah, those two guys both got the skills to get the job done.

Dave and Lee both are top-notch tuners, and true Pontiac guys. Can't go wrong either way!

That said, Lee (Baytown) is a BUNCH closer to Pasadena than Dave (Spring).

Is this who is still recommended to tune in the Houston area? We have a 66 GTO Conv. with a mild build 400, 3x2 carbs which we can't get right... Thanks

I don't know of anyone in the Houston area that really knows how to get a 3x2 set up really tuned. I've never actually seen a 3x2 set-up, in person, that performed well enough to impress me. They look cool, but... It could end up being rather labor intensive with having to take THREE carbs apart to change jets, all the fuel lines to loosen/tighten, etc.

I can put the car on the chassis dyno, and find out where the timing needs to be set. If you are willing to have an oxygen sensor bung welded into your exhaust pipes, then I can hook up a sensor and get the A/F ratio set for idle (at least), and get an idea of how far off the jetting may be. I know a guy in Beaumont that MIGHT be able to provide parts/suggestions (or carb(s) rebuild, if needed) from that point.

You could probably sell the 3x2 set-up, combine that with what the labor cost would be to get it running decently, and have nearly enough to convert it to FAST 2.0 fuel injection system! (I've now bought enough stuff from CompCams to get nice pricing on the their FAST fuel injection stuff)

Good luck,
Lee
