'70 GTO Seatbelt P/Ns
Hi guys, I need some help with the PNs of the lap belts in the rear seat of my '70.
Can anyone help me out here? It would appear I have a mismatched set with differing lengths and PNs. Thanks in advance. -Matt

Can you provide the tag info on each belt?

From this forum.
Quote: "Seat Belt Codes: According to the book being sold by the GTOAA, the “Pontiac GTO/GT-37 Illustrated Identification Guide", the seat belt codes read: (1) first two numbers are the week of the year; (2) the next letter stands for the manufacturer’s (the seat belt vendor) production plant line identifier; (3) the last two numbers stand for the year. This seat belt section in the book is as far as I know the only information printed so far on the GTO/GT-37 seat belts. Example: 44 F 69 The belt was made in the 44th week of 1969. The "F" is the vendor plant's assembly line designator"

Here is what I have. I'm assuming the 6910s are typical? Is the center belt different than the outside seating positions? The reason I ask is the 6900 and 6950 are the odd men out.
(3) Rear male DAAL MODEL# 6910 19.5" belt 22.75" total (2 ) Buckle DAAL MODEL # 6910 31" belt 35" total (1 ) Buckle DAAL MODEL#6950 37" belt 39.5" total (1) Buckle DAAL MODEL# 6900 37" belt 40" total Thanks in advance, -Matt

70oldgoat, thanks for that but I'm talking P/Ns, not date codes.

Not if I can help it!
How are you and the family doing? How is the car?

Everything good over here. Your probably going to shoot me when I tell you, but I got rid of the GTO. I couldn't bring myself to changing anything on an original everything car. So, to quench my racing desires, I picked this up to replace it.

going from dim memory, the 6950 and 6900 are the front shoulder belt buckle and the front lap belt buckles.

Cool, that helps. It looks like I'm going to need to locate some rear belts.

I feel that. Very nice car. I kinda wish I had $15K laying around, as Danny's GTO is for sale, cheap. Sorry I missed out on your convertible.

Matt, the 6910 is correct for the rear on DAAL belts. Sounds like you're just missing one buckle end. Did you check the front ones?

Great catch Mike, I have (1) 6900 and (1)6910 up front. With what I have I'll use the 6900s in front and the 6910s in rear.
I have only one 6950 left over, and suspect it's for the shoulder harness buckle? Is that correct? I'll double check my "junk" box, but I remember restoring all the belts I had. Does anyone have a 6950 they could part with? Thanks guys, -Matt

No problem. For others looking at info on the belts, here is a quick breakdown on '69-72 Pontiac A-bodies (maybe others too), maybe later years also...
Model # AABB AA Hamill 19 Irvin(g) 29 Robbins 39 General Safety 49 DAAL 69 BB Front belt, standard 00 Shoulder belt, standard 50 Rear belt, standard 10 Deluxe will end in a 1 or 2, instead of 0. Date code breakdown explained earlier. |
