ground straps 72 GTO
I purchased a ground strap kit from PY which contains 3 straps I know that the longest one goes on the firewall to the right head. I believe on different years some use two or three can anyone tell me where the other 2 straps go? I been told RH side from the fender well to the frame and not sure about any other.
If anyone has a picture showing me this I appreciate the help a always. Thanks |

I’d like to know the answer to this one, too. I have two extra straps and I have no clue where they go.
Pete, if nobody answers here, try posting it again in the Street section . . .

Passenger inner fender to frame (near front of inner fender), near the idler arm.
Only 2 grounds for 72 GTO's. Last edited by MescaBug; 08-24-2011 at 10:30 AM. |

Hey thanks for the pic, Mesca, better than 1,000 words, already put the second one on . . . .
Question - my ride’s a 70, all the literature says the 70 has three straps - any ideas on the third one . . . . ? Thanks again, Harry

Glad it help.
Strangely enough, most 70 cars have only one ground, head to firewall. Most are missing the fender to frame strap...I can be wrong, since most restored cars are missing some ground straps, lost in restoration... As for a third one, I dont think you need it. Most suppliers will package 3-4 straps for older cars. IIRC, the 60's old cars had 4 ground straps. They just dont want to sell 5-6 different sets... |
