Default 455 Carb CFM reccomendations

I am going to be upgrading my carb and intake. Currently I have the following:
455 (60 over)
Forged flat top pistons, tomohawk forged rods, stock crank
6x8 heads mildly ported, crower springs
Performer Intake, and Edl 650 Carb(left over from the the 350)
Crower 60210 Cam

I am thinking performer rpm intake and a holley street avenger 770. WOuld that be enough carb? The motor is basically just built, so there wont be any major changes in the near future. It is in a 1974 firebird, with the stock t350 and rear.

Thanks

Vic

Vic, how are you going to deal with hood clearance between the Firebird hood and RPM intake?

The carb is probably marginal at 770, FWIW.

I agree with Overkill. It will run decent with the 770 but, will run better with a 800 or 850, or the HP950 or even the HP1000 which is just a fancy 850.

thanks for the info. I will prob go with an 850 or street avenger 870 the. I am pretty sure I will have the needed hood clearance because I have a 3 inch cowel induction hood, but my 'bird DOES NOT look like a camaro...

An 850 would work great on a 455 ! I replaced my 750 with a 850 and picked up a tenth on a mild 455 in my 79 trans am.

I have a real nice 850DP in the for sale section, it was briefly (break in) on a motor similar to yours.
