Default 69 Firebird Strip\Street Front Suspension Upgrades

What are you guys in the 8 to 9 second range using? My 69 bird currently has stock upper\lower control arms, drag springs, adjustable shocks and stock style manual disk brakes.
For the rear suspension I have Caltrac’s, split mono leafs, adjustable drag shocks and drum brakes.

Thanks,
Ed

Exactly the same as you have except for Wilwood disc brakes.

Only run 1/4 once a year. Went 9.60 @ 140 at Norwalk last year. Been 5.97 @ 114 in the 1/8th though.

I went low 9s at 150 with four wheel drums and it sucked. You could probably get by with what you have but good disc brakes are a good idea.

Hi Simon,
Are you using anything to limit front end travel?
Got any underhood pics of the extra clearance with the rack?

Thanks,
Ed

trz arms come with travel limiter tabs, i have few pics of my custom rack set up, i ll try to post em when i m home, even my fatman fabrication narrowed arms had tabs welded for travel limiters whre u thread a bolt/stopper. i never got nothing in it, there was no room for the rubber stopper whatsoever, prbly cause they were maybe 1.5" narrow than stock, that's why i went and dropped for the trz stuff that is stock lenghth, cause i got my weld wheels with 2.25 backspacing and it brought the wheels "in" too much. I didn't
want to use spacers.

oh my rack is front mounted, i had no clearance issues really, other than custom run had to be fabricated in the second crossmember for the steering shfat/u-joint party and
quite some time with bump steer. I ve heard that the off shelf rack kits have small turning radius, that's why i didn't bother sinking money into it to find out that it actually is. I used a rack out of 04 style dakota, my dad narrowed it a bit, i tryed several other racks, this one had inner tie rods positioned closest to lower control arm pivot points
and just seemed like it fitted right between the two crossmembers. I still retain the option of having pwr steering with it, but it's unneccessary at this time.
