Default Head question 1 million...

Do the pushrod holes on Edelbrock aluminum heads need to be enlarged the same as iron heads if I plan to use 1.65 rockers?

as always thanks
Steve

wth??? You mean Edelbrock didn't know enough to clearance the pushrods? I will believe you just in disbelief on ignorance. Heck even less material on each pour! JD

I guess I need to take a close look at my set up. I'm running the HS 1.5 rockers that are supposed to be closer to 1.6 and I don't think mine have been enlarged.....

The E-head is not a copy of the RAIV head although many believe that to be true. The RAIV came with 1.65 rockers from the factory.

Like Ken said, the E-head pushrod holes won't work as-is for 1.65s.

Just take a look at the pushrod holes on your stock Edelbrock -- Nice small round holes. There's more than enough room to oval shape them, but I was warned to be somewhat conservative because the water jacket is pretty close to the pushrod hole.

So about how much material are we talking? 1/8th inch back towards the spring, or away from the spring? I need to have mine done.

Is that the case for just the performer heads? I would think the RPM heads are set up to run 1.65's

Yep, Butler enlarged mine while he was doing the "race port" on a set of RPM heads.
