Default Anyone own a Jeep Patriot?

It's a vehicle we've considered buying and was wondering if anyone could offer some of their opinions about them. Gets good mpg and could be had for under $20K.

Both my brothers have Patriots. They aren't very exciting cars, but they ride okay and seem to be dependable. As far as I know neither one of them has had any problems.

My wife has a 2008 Patriot AWD and we both love it. It is very confortable to drive, handles nice, gets good gas mileage, and the biggest thing is that she feels safe driving it in the winter when the roads are not so great. We have had a brutal winter up here this year and with studded winter tires, she has no problem at all. The power is supprisingly good for a little 4 cyl. We also got one with a 5sp manual transmission. Couldn't be happier. She got rid of her Toyota Tacoma TRD, and doesn't regret it for a minute.

Was it the Patriot that had poor crash test ratings? or was it the Liberty? Think it may have been the Liberty, not a popular ride around here

Ive never met anyone who was happy with there Liberty. Hopefully the Patriots are a better vehicle.
