Default Daughter's BMW Battery Help

She had her bat. replaced today at Sears...2006 BMW 325i. When she left she noticed no instrument panel function.fuel gage, temp.,nothing?? She went right back and they said they could find no problem...but admitted they screwed the pooch and would pay for repair. I haven't seen it yet, but probably I couldn't help much as I have little use of my right arm and hand and dizzy too. Any ideas? Much appreciate any thoughts!!

check the battery cables. some cars have 2 cables on the pos, some have a smaller cable attached(coming off the main cable) on the pos,neg or both. check to see if they are broken, loose or pulled off. If it has a jumper box check the connections in there too.

Yep, she said they checked for over two hours It just really bums me out that I can't help the kid because of my phy. condition right now. I've messed with veh's for many years and believe it has to be something simple, but I'm not much help. I greatly appreciate the responses guys!!!!

Most likely a missing BAT connection.

George, that's exactly what I'm thinking....too much not working for a simple blown fuse...ie, no dash anything....including speed-o. She's going to bring it over today.

first, when ever you replace a battery in a BMW you have to go in and reset the energy diag.,tell the car it has a new battery,,sec the battery has to be the same cca if it is not then you have to tell it is not the same battery.
other words you can't just throw a battery in .
I would recommend bring it to the dealer and have them scan it and reset the battery memory.
these car have a lot of programming requirements ,a simple reset maybe all that is needed.
3rd ,there is also a battery disconnect at the battery for collision . it disconnects the battery automatically when there car is involved in a accident .it could be disconnected.

hope this helps let me know

the one good thing about these cars you can usually plug the computers right in and the dealership shoud be able to pin point the issue. I always had my doubts about places like this I had a neighbor who had his oil changed at one of them quick oil change places. He pulled in his driveway and couldnt figure out why his car was tapping so loud and I went over and he was still trying to figure out why it was doing that and he said he just had the oil changed. I looked to see if any oil was leaking on the ground maybe he had a bad leak or something. I look up and he has no oil filter on his car. How they didnt see that i dont know but I just dont trust some of these places unles im there watching maybe.jmho

Had a beater 325 that had battery in trunk.
It was acting same way and the feed wire(smaller positive wire)
was corroded inside the battery connector, cut it off ,put a new connector on and it was fixed.

Thanks guys, to the dealer it goes>Tue., holiday today. I took a look at it yesterday and the inst. looked ok, no loose wires, etc. This is a really nice car that she takes good care of. Like many, she's in a $ crunch and those BMW dealer visits are liken to an ambulance ride to the ER.(she's had it to them a few times + it's 60 miles from home). I'll come back and give results.

Thanks again for your help.

Friend of mine took his X3 to the dealer the other day...dealer says it's time for the 60k checkup. Friend says how much.......dealer says $800. Friend says how long? Dealer says an hour or so. Friend says are you replacing parts? dealer says no. Friend says your sign states service charge is $125 an hour...What am i getting for the xtra $675? Dealer has no comment. Friend takes car and leaves.

George

Doesn't BMW have free scheduled maintenance for the first 100,000? That's what they are advertising here as a selling pitch.

Yes, so does ours, but thought you were talking about warranty, the extended warranty doesn't include the maintenance (unless you pay extra for it)

BMW wrote the book on proprietary service work.

Comeon thats a rip!

I reset the light on mine with a paper clip. It's about the easiest thing you can do with a BMW.
