Default Countdown to Barrett-Jackson Auction

Only 1+ weeks to the my favorite show on TV...admit it..you can't stop watching either. I love everything about it... watching the old fat drunk guys with gold chains overpaying for cars....dragging out Carrol Shelby and Lee Iacoca...guessing the auction price...and oh yeh the cool cars.

My plan is to DVR each day and watch at night...fast forward thru commercials and the charity sales.

It is on the Speed Channel
I will watch but I will get sick and tired of hearing "another 69 Camaro custom or another 67 435 hp Corvette.

You mean the Camaro, Corvette, Chevelle and Shelby Mustang auction and when a Pontiac Buick or Oldsmobile comes along go to commercial. Yeah I watch that.

I like it for the fantasy bids. Last year my 10 year old was much better at it than me, but I did hit one on the money. Wasnt fast enough with the bid to win the prize. Son and I both have accts set up for it and he has his own laptop for his bids. Of course his acct is under wifes name just in case.

My local cable system won't let me have Speed unless I sign up for a dozen other sports channels that I don't want.

I thot I was the only one to notice that??? But I see mostly mustangs for sale. It does cheer me up tho when I realize what it means. People cant seem to wait to get rid of all those ford products while others HOLD ON TO their Olds, Buick, and Pontiac jewels!!

Default My favorite is

the multiple times I get to hear Craig Jackson commiserate "that's waaay under the money". Even he can't get past the 2006 pricing. I do usually tivo it and do the fast-forward thing skipping through everything but the "original" style cars.

One thing I have always wondered about. The guy that is second in command that always wears sunglasses. They talk to him outside at night sometimes, and he always has those sunglasses on. He does not appair without them. Does he have a medical reason for the always present glasses? I was glad to see last year that the old guy with the pony tail got it cut off on air.

I believe the guys name is Steve Davis. He was a collector of Shelbys and sold a lot of his cars thru BJ. They eventually hired him, and yes he does have a medical condition requiring him to wear the shades.

I always wonder what percentage of sales are cars being bought back by their owners. I know 3 guys that have had to do it. Costs them buyers commision, sellers commision and sales tax! Not to mention consignment fee and transportation costs. If you watch you'll notice not all the buyers look happy. DVR is the only way to watch the coverage.

Thought it was not allowed to bid on your own cars at BJ

I will be in Scottsdale for the auction of saturday. Going for a week of golf and one day of auction. Plan on spending most of the time in the staging area checking out the cars and maybe talking with some of the sellers. Kind of a "bucket list " sort of thing. I do enjoy watching on TV but agree with others about having Pontiacs skipped over for commercials. You have to review the docket to see what was missed and what the seling price was. I wonder if there is a " Packer Bar" in the Scottsdale area to watch the football game on sunday?

I'll be there all week as a good friend of mine Bret the owner of Ride Tech is selling his 68 Camaro Velocity... I hope he does well as I think this year is going to be a rough ride for the guys down at the Barrett... Money has tighten up pretty much across America and not every seller can afford to buy back his ride,,, some are just tapped out.

If anyone will be in Scottsdale this Saturday, there willbe a huge car show cruise in at the Pavillions McDonalds on Indian Bend rd. I plan to be there with my 66 GTO and M/T HEMI powered flat bottom promoting Pontiac Heaven March 31-April 3. Stop over and say hello.
