Question Concourse Tri-Power rebuilders

Need Help

Who does real nice work rebuilding a set of carbs for a concourse GTO. I haven't had a set of carbs done for some time and don't know who are the better rebuilders out there.

Thanks

Thumbs up Benchwick Carburator Youngstown

Benchwick Carburator, 2747 Glenwood Ave, Youngstown, OH 330.782.3787 did mine about 5 years ago. I've had no issues and they continue to look good.

Dick Boneske.

He is a PY member, knows Tri-Power carbs and restoration as well as or better than anyone else who specializes in them.

He is retired but may still take on some work.

Jon Havens, a retired aircraft mechanic, will dip in real diachromate - not Eastwood paint. He can even bore the outboard carbs for a little more CFM. A little expensive but excellent work.

i'd recommend diachromate rather than paint. cost a bit more, but worth it. believe mike w. will plate or paint them too, if i recall.

Times 2 on the dichromate plating. Mine where replated by Benchwick and after 4 years look great. You can spot a "paint job" a block away, I don't care what Eastwood says.

Jon Havens did these, dichromate with a clear applied over it for more durability. Also jetted them for my combination. I haven't driven it yet, but it fired right up and idled perfect on the test stand.

gto65, Dick Boneske or Mike Wasson are my recommendations.

(Always get your centers and airhorns plated vs. painting them - gas dissolves paint!)

I have 4 sets of trips and Mike Wasson has worked on them all, no complaints. Very friendly to deal with.

I have also heard good things about Bob Stone (ClassicCarb@aol.com) , in Line Lexington, PA. I believe his site is www.carbdoctor.com.

I hate to ask this but.... aren't Concourse(as in original) 65, maybe 66 too, tripowers grey? No paint or dichromate on them. I just sold a setup that was as original original as you can get and they were grey.... no paint or anything on them. Repos are gold in color which I believe is wrong for Concourse.

But then again I'm probably wrong. "Just when you think you the rules, they change the game on you."
