Unfortunately, no. A guy emailed me looking for it. He was the 2nd owner and wanted to know if it's still around. Figured there weren't that many blue 71's made.

I thought all Judges in 71 that had 4 speeds got the M22's?

You're correct Mike, my money's on a typo - when it comes to things like this, John doesn't make many mistakes.

Yep, typo.
The guy also said it may have been Adriatic Blue or Lucerne Blue.

PY member Guilty H.O. restored a Lucy Blue 71 Judge that originally came out of NC. It is now in a collection here in GA. You got a VIN?

No.
I'll have to ask him if he has the VIN. Sounds promising on the info you have.

The guy said he hasn't been able to find the VIN, looked for years.
Guess his Grandmother is the one who purchased it for him back then. Also said it was the only 71 Judge sold at Glossen Motors. So if it is on the PHS as being from Glossen Motors, I'd be interested also as I don't have that dealer code either.

I'll call Don and see if he still has the PHS on the one he restored. If it shows Glossen Motors that would be pretty cool. I know it was built at the Atlanta plant which would make sense for an NC car.
Mike, you are correct, that HPP article on the Adriatic Blue 71 Judge did say it had a 3-speed. The owner left it that way because it was so rare. BJ

John
I spoke with Don and he reminded me that the Judge he restored had some unique options. It was Lucerne Blue, black interior, 4-speed, with AC, but it had manual drum brakes and manual steering, and in-dash tach. He said he bought it from a guy here in Georgia, then sold it to a buddy who kept it for a while and traced it back to its original owner - then sold it back to Don, who restored it and then sold it. It is now owned by the guy in Atlanta who owns that Castillian Bronze 71 Judge Vert. Don will email the PHS to me and I'll shoot you a PM with the dealer name, etc. But, it sounds like it is not the same car. BJ

Do you know when the original owner sold the Judge? If he sold it sometime before about 1975, it's very possible it was destroyed in an accident.
I bought the motor and transmission out of what may have been a 71 Judge in 1975 or 1976 in Charlotte NC. The car was definitely a 455HO 4-spd. It had been hit very hard in the rear and was totaled. The car was Lucerne Blue and had stripes and a rear spoiler. At that time, nobody was into documentation, and dealers were selling "Dealer Option" Judge kits. I knew little about Judges back then, but I knew I wanted a 455. I bought the motor and tranny for cash plus and old motor and Saginaw. I believe he was in the process of negotiating with the insurance company, and wasn't too happy with what they were offering him. The car was hit very hard, so it was most likely totalled. The economy was pretty bad around that time, gas prices were high, so it's unlikely anybody would have fixed it. I don't know what happened to it after I got the engine. It wasn't until I tried putting the motor/trans in my 67 400 Firebird that I discovered the difference between D-port engines and round port engines. I ended up putting a 70 GP 455 in the bird and setting the 71 455HO motor aside for many years. I sold the motor about ten years ago to a guy restoring a 71 Judge in the north-east. I didn't bother pulling the VIN off of the block. I'm pretty sure the GTO was Lucerne Blue, since there was a blue 71 T/A running around where I lived. I don't remember much about the GTO beyond that it was blue. I think it had a set of Keystones or Cragars on it when it was wrecked. Mike |
