Default 62 Cat clutch/brake pedals

A guy on another forum is looking for some for his Cat. It is going from auto to 4 speed and he needs a clutch pedal and pivot. He is thinking a Fireball clone.

First will A body stuff work on a B body? I have some 65 Tempest pedals. If they wont work does anyone have a set he could buy relatively inexpensively?

Brad @ Fabcraft Metalworks offers a conversion kit that makes life simple. You can get everything you need with his pedal kit if you want to go that route. I think it's around $650 or so. You'll still need to track down a flywheel, bellhousing, clutch, linkage, and trans, but he can steer you in the right direction with that stuff also. Just something to consider. I used his kit on my car and it bolted right in, no problem.

Brad is out of 62 stuff. He does have 63 stuff which will work even better in a 62.I have done both 62 and 63 change overs and believe the 63 linkage is much better. And no other model will work.Tom

the only issue I had was a slight moving of the fuel and brake line where the Z bar goes over the frame rail. Was NBD.I used a 63 bell but believe a 61-52 can be used by threading for the ball where the bushing is.Tom

Why doesn't someone repop the fork already?

Robert,

I think this is about as close as you'll get to a repro clutch fork at this time. I haven't tried or seen one yet, but they're working on it. Check the whole site. I think there's more mentioned about it somewhere.

that fork is not correct at all for a 61-62 linkage, they dont use a clevise pin. They use a rod that goes through a hole at the end of the fork.63-64 use the clevise pin.Tom

So this one wouldn't work?

What is a clevis pin?

Tom,

Just going off what the site said. I agree with you, parts of the clutch fork aren't similar, but the modifications they mentioned may make it useable. I'm with Robert, sure would be good if someone would repro this item. There are a fair number of us that dig the manual setup and it would make life a lot easier.

the 63-64 fork has a slot at the end. There is a hole in the top bottem where the pin drops through to hold the rod that goes from the Z bar to the fork.If you look at the pic of my setup it can be seen. The 61-62 setup has a rod that has a very thin adj rod with a spring that goes through a small hole at the end of the fork.Forks are so hard it would be very hard to slot and drill the hole in a 61-62 fork to use in the 63-64 setup.Im sure Z bar rods can be fabbed to make other forks work.Tom

So, what I am getting out of this is that the 63 pedals/linkage will work?... Even better?
