Default primary tube size?

ive got a 467 cu in pontiac with kre high ports [600hp] what size primary tube should i use for my headers?will 1 7/8 inch be big enough or go for 2 inch? also how do you determine length of collector?exhaust is a 3 inch system with x pipe.thanks in advance for any help.

482/ported hiports
On the dyno mine choked at about 680hp with 1 7/8 Dougs headers. Did best with stock 1050 Dominator, no mods would help. Soon became obvious it was plugged up.
Swapped Dougs for crappy rusted beatup 2 1/8" headers and it opened the gate for tuning! Responded well to bigger carb, supersucker etc. faded about 740hp
Dougs were only headers that would fit car so I went back to best combo using them.

Your results will no doubt vary.

For a 600hp motor the Dougs would be a good bet IMO
Or MadDogs in 2"+ to allow for more in the future.
