hood tach placement
Does anyone know the correct placment of the hood tack. i have a destructions from Ames/The parts Place and they are for a La mans. Dont work. puts the tach almost over the angled hood line and too far to the right of the drivers POV.
Please point me in the right direction. all i need is certerline of hood to centerline of tach and how far from trailing edge of hood to face of tach beer could be in order... |

I think i put the hole as far back and two the driver side in the center of the triangle braces . There insnt much room to place it with out hitting a hood brace. I had the same instruction you had .

Make sure you check it from the bottom, i dont think it will sit that close to the driver side ,with out hitting a brace.

Underhood
I will definately check the underside as you said. I cannot affore to mis-place a 4" hole.
Thanks everyone for their guidance. I will play with this this weekend when I wont be"rushing" to get it done. Daniel |

I don't ever recall seeing any factory info on this, it was never a factory option on a GP to my knowledge, just dealer.
I would think the "right" looking location would be in the same location as in a GTO measured from the center and rear edge of the hood (since the GP hood is much wider) assuming this does not run into a brace. (the factory location on a GTO is as close to the windshield as possible without hitting the back of the brace.

I looked at a few on youtube some are were my tach is placed and a few over to the drivers side , witch means you will have to cut through a brace, i didnt want to do that, and im happy were it is .

Hood spot
I want to keep it as close to correct as possible and was originally looking for the dimension from the center of the hood to center of tach face and distance from the hood trailing edge.
I agree that I do not want to cut into any bracing. If this was only a dealer installed option then some variation will be evident. In my opinion I would also want it as far back as possible and in the direct line of sight of the driver. There is a lot of good info here. I may have to make some common sense and personal preference adjustments but I trust those of you that have known dealer/oem installations over all paperwork. |
