Default Roll Cage Pictures

Hey guys,

I know this has been posted before, but I didn't really see that many pics of 10 point roll cages. I considering going through the dash on my 76 Trans Am, but not sure I want to cut up a perfect dash. If you guys would be so gracious to post any pictures you have of a 10 point cage, either through the dash or in front of it, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks,
David K

I'm completing the install of my full cage (had a 8 point). I'll try to post some pictures.

I have posted these here before. With some velcro and a dash pad, this method is easily hidden, and from the outside its very difficult to even see the cage.

This is great guys, please keep them coming. I have the dash out now and want to make the choice to go through the dash or in front of it. Again, just not sure I want to put holes in a perfectly good dash. Can it go further into the metal of the dash so less of the padded dash has to be cut up?

Thanks again for the replys so far.

Not sure if you're only interested in second gen birds with 10 pt cages but here are a couple of shots of my 69. The forward bars go through the ac/vent holes.

after my 76 formula was back halved.. i had a FULL cage put in.. and definitely wanted the front bars going through the dash.. i've seen it done in other cars and it's a much nicer and cleaner looking installation.
Now.. I've had my car gutted and am doing a full C/M chassis and obviously the bars will go through the stock .. perfectly mint .. dash once again.. so.. here is one pic of the car with the new chassis and cage.. just to give you a bit of an idea.. and I will find some older pics of the other cage... maybe they will show it better.
I had a friend who had a second gen camaro who didn't want to spend the extra money or go to the trouble of going through the dash.. and I found I had trouble getting in and out of his car.. because of where the bars where in front of the dash.. just my opinion.

take care

Thanks everyone for taking the time to post the pics, they all look great. Stormin, that looks very clean, if you have any pictures of it from the top that are closer to see where it goes throuhg the dash that would be great. I am getting some good ideas from you guys, keep them coming.

I've had 2 2nd gen bird race cars. The first one someone else put in the cage in front of the dash. It was a a pain to get in & out of for me, but I'm getting up there and don't move as good as I used to. The second one I did and removed the original dash and put the down bars in front of the door opening, and installed an aluminum dash. Much better. Personally I wouldn't cut up a perfect dash, getting too hard to find these days. I'd go with either a glass or an aluminum dash and get those down bars as far forward as possible. I used a comp engineering 10 point cage on the one I did and had plenty of tubing. We did my sons 96 bird the same way when we built it, but he is a big man. I can't reach the peddals on his car. You may want that perfect dash some day.

I'm heading to the chassis shop later this coming week.. I'll take some pics more specific to what you are looking for.

As I have my bars going through the dash.. I have a friend who didn't want to mess up his dash and has the bars in front.. I have sat in his car.. and I can tell you not only is it a cleaner looking installation when the bars go through the dash but it also makes it easier getting in and out of the car... gives you a bit more room.

take care
