Lightbulb Surround sound thoughts

Viewed the Sharp HTSB 200 sound bar at the local variety store today. This seems way less cumbersome than a typical theatre system.

Anyone use one of these? How's the results?

My couch is about 15 feet away from the 50" Samsung plasma; think I'd wall mount it just above the window behind the couch.

Looking forward to you getting some responses....not trying to swipe your thread, I bought a new 46" LCD last month..love the pic and size, esp. the HD, but I think the sound quality sux(I've read many complaints about this for most brands) I guess it's difficult to mount really good quality speakers in such a flat enclosure?...ie, the popularity of an add on surround sound/bar application.

My future son-in-law spoke highly last week of a friend's sound bar, I'll ask him what brand etc. How much is the one you inquired about $?

I posted a couple of pics below of my area...I would have trouble having the speakers around the area of my recliner, so I would probably mount them(it) somewhere around the bottom front of the ent. center?

It depends on how critical you are about your sound. If you are looking for a slight step up from internal TV sound, go fo it but for the same money you can do better with small quality speakers, Dipoles or inwalls. You didn't state the price point you are going for.

Do you run a seperate Home Theater receiver and front speakers or just purely TV audio?

I had a similiar setup (Corner couch) in a house I use to live in and I had good results mounting smallish speakers, one on each side of the corner facing slightly down and towards the center of the room. In that picture it's hard to tell where your screen is located. the setup should begin with where the screen is, front sound location and which seat will you be spending most of your time in. Make that seat the sweetspot and go from there. IMO, putting a soundbar up that high above the window and facing straight out will not give decent results.

I have a Bose lifestyle surround sound for about 6 - 7 years now. Sounds great. No complaints. I forget what I paid for it, maybe around $1200, if that helps.
