Torker II vs Warrior
I need some opinions or recomendations on a intake swap. Current 535, with SD 335 cfm heads, 254 duration/ .640 lift solid roller engine with a port match only Torker II (no spacer), 1000 HP carb. To me it seems that the Torker II with the smallish runners is restricting the air flow potential of the heads. I have the chance to get a non modified warrior to try or I am better off going to a stock victor right away or adding a 1" spacer to the Torker. The warrior sure is one cool looking manifold.

the warrior will need a lot of work to work properly, the victor would be better but still will need work. Why not try a BOP intake?

A stock torquer II is a restriction when airflow gets above 260 cfm, if you are not after every last tid bit of HP try to pick up a used Victor. If you do any street driving the Victor will better velocity and behave better than the BOP.

I'm not an engine guru by any means... but I would definitely think your in victor territory

Warrior over the Torker 2.
The Victor would be a better choice......ported, even better. Also, switching the carb to a dominator would pick up as well.

The T2 is not a very good choice for a 455 IMHO. That intake is better used on a 400 with D-ports. The Warrior will work better. I finally bit the bullit and went 4500 Victor and 1050 Dominator on the 474. Jury still out-no racing until May for me.

Agreed with Victor. T-2 is a VERY good intake for the large cubed streeter, but once CID goes over 475, it falls off up high. We HAVE used T-2 with success on 505s with hood clearance "issues", using a 1" spacer and some porting. Warrior was designed before 1970...
The BOP intake looks very good. Limited information about real-world usage. The AED 1000HP carb is preferable to a Dominator until 1150 CFM is necessary. The smaller body will more efficiently mix the air/fuel, especially at lower engine speeds. FWIW Jim |

the warrrior was originally designed for the 366 ci nascar motor. the runners are designed for this engine, around 2.6ish csa at the plenum. if you open the warrior up to around 3.3 csa at the plenum runner openings and taper to your head port opening, it makes for a nice intake for bigger motors. i would add at least one 1" spacer to the warrior also, or a shear plate.
easy way is to go a victor tho.

Warriors are underrated in the first place and many of their so called problems are not true. They were also the first singal plane intake of any kind, designed by PMDs Special Projects.
They were designed to be run with spacers from the start. I run 2 " of spacers with one being a Super Sucker. My Warrior with a little plenum work and the spacers beats my Victor with some work done to it by over a tenth and just destroys my stock T2. Its not even close compairing a Warrior to a T2. You need a lot of engine to make a Victor beat a good Warrior. |

Dragncar, when you say work done on the warrior, can you describe to me what to do, as I am getting the warrior for nothing and your probably the only one that has come out and said the warrior is much better than the Torker II, keep in mind it is 535 CI but has a relatively mild cam.
Thanks, |

They need some general blending in the plenum area. And need at least a one inch spacer, a one inch open with a 4 hole Super Sucker/Wilson is better.
They are better than a T2 for sure in my opinion. Might not be the best intake for a 535 though but better than a T2. It will make a ton of torque on a 535 for sure. I dropped a tenth in ET with a Victor vs my Warrior on a 9.3CR 455. It runs 11.16s all day long with iron heads. I dropped another tenth and a half with the T2. My friend runs 11.30s with a Warrior on a 400 with just a RAIV cam. Next to nothing, I am jealous. They are expensive intakes, 400+ new. Way lighter than a Victor also and you dont have to trim valve covers like you do with a Victor. And yes they are the best looking intake made. |

They don't make them new anymore. Still $400 used.

The Warrior About maxes out at around 300cfm, IMHO Go Straight to the Victor, Don't mess around Unless you just want the look, It will kill power Big time Vs a Victor in a 535, I talked with Mr Jim Robertson about using the warrior on my 535 a while back, He advised against it and I believe he was right, SD's Dyno testing with their 541 made right around 650hp with T2 and 950hp and 702hp with Victor that was milled 3/4 inch But with a 1" spacer added back anda 1050 dominator, FWIW JMO the Warrior is a Awesome 470 and Below Intake Actually one of the best when worked But for a 535 Even the Victor is Small for it and Needs some work to get The Maximum gain from it, Don't Choke a Big Cube Engine it Compounds what is already a Problem JMO

i concur..at 535 inches, you need a big intake..i would add, the bop is just huge..but it sure does look like it outdoes the victor under hard usage..for street, run the victor
the t2 is for babies...and i have 2 nash/warriors, and the tunnel ram..for 455's, they be cool..535, ??? |

i do not know his intended application but with the cam specs he listed it does looks more like a street/strip deal. i don't think a properly ported 4500 series warrior, with two 1"spacers and/or shear plate would hurt his combo too much. he probably has eheads, which he stated flow in the 330s. it would be different if he has a 400cfm head combo. the 535 will go into choke/run out of cam around 6500 with the head he is using anyway.
before the victor days, the norm was to cut the runners open on the warrior and raise by welding to increase csa. i am doing a test on a engine i built for a guy along these lines. it is a 482 with 280 roller/400 cfm HPs with a stock 4500 victor. no dyno time, but we are testing at the track. we only have a couple of base runs to go by before the season was over with the victor. I have a max ported warrior i will be putting on his car this spring after a few more runs with the victor.

You are correct, the cam is a street/strip cam and fairly mild, with the set up as is it reaches peak HP at 5500 =620 hp and peak torque @ 4300 rpm = 665#. yes they are e heads. I do not believe even with a cam change I would want to wring it up much over 6-6500 rpm. I still drive it on the street and to the track and back ( 2 hours each way)

you cant run the bop on the street without a 6" hood scoop..i have one, and it looks insane on the engine..its is truly a single 4 tunnel ram..great for tiger heads..i will be trying it on my 300 cfm d-ports, and i think with nitrous it will be very beneficial..the warriors are elegant looking..and run well..anytime we start chopping , grinding,or even port matching we have built our own manifold..so comparing a ported t-2 to a stock nash, or a ported victor to the stock bop is ludicrous..
the bottom line is to have the correct size runners from carb to valve..how it gets that way is up to you.. |

Does anyone have a warrior (4150 style) they can measure the common divider wall on for me
ie from the intake flange to the plenum along the common wall Just want to do a few comparisons with the victor for runner length Thanks

If its its a street strip 535 he is going to be fine with the Warrior with a little work. We all dont need to go the same route every time and stick a Victor on it. So what if he might loose a tenth vs a Victor. And to tell you the truth Victors are not all that great a intake anyway its just what we have, so we work with it just like we worked with the Warrior all those years.
Look at the succsess ACE has had with his Tohmahawk intake vs the Victor in a SS type situation. Warriors can run very well. Ace runs 9.30s, thats 9.30s folks with a highly modifyed Warrior on a large bore 400 block with a 3.75 crank in a not so light car. BTW, T2s are for kids, or a long rod 400 street engine, thats about it. |

u got mail 4+1....if i had a choice, i would run the nash over either the t-2 or victor..but availability must be stressed..
i would rather modify a holley street dominantor too..and have..ran very well in the old days.. |
