NOS sill plates on Ebay...recession proof?

I could be wrong but shouldn't the Fisher plates have rivets in them if they were actually manufactured in the '64~'67 era?
I'm wondering if those might not be more likely from the '70s era.

I thought the 64-65 style had a different rib design? I think the newer replacement parts had the Body by Fisher logo w/the adhesive backing instead of the rivet style.
Another case of buyer beware.... Last edited by steve v; 01-19-2009 at 10:15 AM. |

Here's a pair off of a 64 GTO I parted years ago.
Maybe Chevelles had the smooth design? |

Well, those don't have the rivets either so I guess I'm wrong on that.

Greg,
These off the 64 have very small black rivets.....probably too small to show in the pic. |

I'm on a better computer now and I see them. No rivets on the ebay item though...and as you say...smooth finish. I'm pretty sure that's wrong for the era as well.

Not sure about the rivets vs. no rivets, but the smooth design is the gm replacement after the rib design was discontinued.
I have a set still in the wrappers also. I bought them from the dealer back in 1982. LOL, anybody want them for $500?

Or, maybe you just put on your glasses? That works for me!

Correct! I remember buying a set of those before the repros became available also. I believe I gave about $15 at the dealership. The buyer is going to be pi$$ed when he finds out that they are not true NOS but NORS. Especially when he gives that much money!

Yep, some kind of replacemant sills for sure. I remember the ones on my 66 GTO and Tempest were ribbed.... and they were the originals. Plus they had the little rivets to fasten on the emblem. Prices are crazy... I pitty the one that buys these off of EBay and finds out he was scrod.
I wish I hadn't thrown out the ones off the GTO after I wrecked it. That goes for a lot of parts off it I could have used today. Who'd have thought we'd be where we are now restoring these cars we just threw away when they crapped out on us.
