which headers ???
I have a 1961 Safari wagon 389 (2bbl), 4-speed (originally a 3-speed). I'm installing an edelbrock 4bbl intake and a holly 600cfm carb and would like to replace the cam with one that would give the motor a good sound. I've been told to use an 1965 GTO 067 cam. ...yes/no?
What headers should I use on the car? ..the car has power steering. I'm sure many guys on this forum have done the same thing. I'd like to hear what has been done and what NOT to do. thanks, thunderplex

For a good all around cam I have always liked the 068 cam. What rearend gears do you have? Wide or close ratio tranny?

068 vs 067 cam
I've been told that the 068 cam was for automatic trans cars and the 067 was for manual trans cars. True or false? My Safari has a Muncie m21 4-speed transmission.

I wouldn't worry about the hassle of headers for that cam. Summit 2801 is good also for the street, like the 068 but with the extra built in lift.

From my own experience if you want a little rumble at idle but don't want to sacrifice vaccum or fuel mileage, the Comp cams Hi energy 268 will work for your application. But the decision is up to you. Link to HE 268H specs: http://compcams.com/technical/Catalo...12-219_233.pdf |
