Default CraigsList / MicroSoft Outlook Express problems

Hey - whenever I respond to an ad on Craigslist, it goes to MS Outlook Express...and I never get a response. I was starting to think no one wanted me to play in their band...LOL...but replies to cars for sale, furniture, etc...nothing.

I don't have an Outlook Express mail account, I'm with Yahoo...any ideas how to change that?

Thanks

you have to change the correlation of the email to outlook. I believe this is done in IE tools.

It gives you a window to change the association.

Under Tools / IE / my the only mail catagories are

Hotmail
Microsoft Office Outlook
MSM
Outlook Express

I'm using neither of those - what do I do?

I'm confused...

I realize that this isn't the kind of answer you are looking for, but I suggest switching to Mozilla Thunderbird as your e-mail client. I've been using it for years with no problems.

Your using Yahoo as your email source not browser. Are you using Internet explorer for your web browser?

IE thinks your default email source is Outlook not yahoo. So everytime you click an email "link" it thinks it is supposed to use outlook.

You have to change what IE thinks is your default email source.

This is accomplished through IE, internet options....I think. It may also be changed through control panel. I don't have time right now to find it, I will later today if no one else jumps in.

What operating sytem, Xp?

John

Ok - you found me out, I'm busted...

You're funny...

Seriously, I was feeling rejected cause the only bands that replied to me were the ones that listed a phone #...and I'm such an amazing guitarist how could THAT happen???

Then when no one replied as to cars for sale, I knew there was something up...

Speaking of CL - I already sold a couch and chair, put the ad in last night...this is better than eBay!!!

She's much too pretty for me, I'd never be able to land a girl like that...

However, if she's pyschotic, THEN I've got a good chance!!!

I'll give that girl this: those pics have to be very honest ones. Ive heard of photoshopped ones and ten year old high school graduation pics being used in those online ads.

I never use an email client (Outlook Express, Thunderbird, etc.) but if you do, your email goes from your Yahoo email account (or whichever email account) directly to your computer instead of waiting for you to go to Yahoo's site to retrieve it. Likewise, when you click on an email address, Outlook Express kicks in since it is the default email client for Windows. If you want to send email directly from your computer instead of going the long way around the barn and copying the email address then going through the Yahoo site to send it, I also recommend Mozilla Thunderbird as a companion to Firefox.
Last time I checked Outlook Express wanted me to pay to link my free email account to the Outlook Express email client. (Thunderbird is free) so I just got in the habit of right clicking on an email address to save it, then going to my free email account to send it.
I have setup Thunderbird for other people and it is pretty easy to use and install. If you miss the "make Tbird my default email client" prompt, go to Control Panel > Internet Options > Programs tab > click on the arrow next to the email line and select Tbird, > click "Apply" and use Tbird. Of course you have to download Thunderbird before you can use it.
