swapping manual steering for PS gearbox on a 68
My friend is offering me his stock PS gearbox from a 68 camaro. What do i need to swap it with my stock manual gearbox on my 68 bird? Aside from the power steering pump, is there anything else I need to change? How about the pitman arm?
thanks |

The power steering pitman arm and idler arm are different to the best of my knowledge. My 2 PS arms from Firebirds, were also different than a CAmaro. my arms were kind of a "C" shape and shorter overall length.
Hope this helps. |

The only thing you have to change is the pitman arm. Maybe the rag joint if its tore up

Some parts to check to make sure they are the same:
idler arm (if the pitman is different, the idler is probably different too) drag link may be larger diameter on ps setup steering arms are probably different |

You only have to change to the C shaped pitman arm if using the 1967-68-69 center dump exhaust. After that, the exhaust went to the rear and you can then use the straight pitman arm. Just as with headers, you can use the straight arm. |
