So, last week in Aug is late? When did they build the 69 model year? What would be the earliest build? I know 50/50 is correct but why D80 spoiler on the cowl tag. Thanks, JOHN |

D80 told Fisher that the decklid had to be pierced for a spoiler.
69 went long, 11A was the last week. |

I think hes thinking thats a Aug 68 build but for a TA that wasnt made in 68 So the Aug date would be 69 and yes that is a late production TA. Also going along with what Kurt said the 69 model year was extended (now we would call that enhanced) due to the 70.5 being introduced in 1970 instead of 1969. |

As stated, this is a Aug 69 (late) car. http://www.camaros.org/geninfo.shtml#HowMany gives the production months (and volumes).
There's a chance that I may be able to get the same info for F-bird. |

The TA was introduced in March of 69 therefore your car could only be built Aug 69 |

Here is your link's FAQ "Q: [05-Jan-2004] Update: Why is there a difference between the car model year and the calendar year? A: The automotive industry typically used (and generally still does) a model year that is offset from the calendar year. Sales dates for a car model typically start in September of the prior year and end the following August. Production start/stop dates are generally a month before the sales start/stop dates. For instance, the 1967 Camaro was built from August of 1966 through July of 1967. If a 1967 Camaro has a cowl tag date of 12A (indicating that the build month and week were December/first-week), then the car was built in December of 1966 (not December of 1967). A production gap of a couple of weeks between the end of one year and the start of the next was common, and used to changeover the plant for the next model year" |

Thanks cammer, and all who are replying. so you know that none of the trans ams began production until 69. However, firebirds could have a late 68 build.?.? I think everyone is right and it is a late car, aug of 69. I just like to learn. John ![]() |

Look again at that table. Notice how the 69 model year continued thru Nov 69?
NOR didn't even start Firebird production til April 69. And the VIN lines up with August 69 too. |
