Frame Swap Question
I have a 67 Lemans that needs a new frame, too many issues behind the front wheels. I have researched and read many of the "frame swap" threads but I am not completely clear on what options I have.
I have found 67 Chevelle Wagon Frame that looks like it will work. The fact that a Chevelle sedan is 3 1/2 shorter that the Lemans frame behind the rear wheels seems to be accurate. The Chevelle wagon is 3 1/2 longer than the sedan (again behind the rear wheels), so it seems reasonable that the longer Pontiac frame is the same as a Chevy wagon. Reviewing the frame charts, the dimensions are the same, at least all of the dimensions that measure the same points. I have read in a few threads that some of the body mount locations could be different but I can't verify every mount using the frame charts. Can anyone verify the mounts are all the same or different? I have also heard the front frame horns could be different, is this just cosmetic or will I have issues mounting the body/radiator and bumper? What other issues could I encounter should I decide to make the swap with the Chevy Wagon frame? Am I on the right track with the Chevelle Wagon frame or should I be waiting for a Pontiac frame that I know will work? Thanks, Greg |

I cant help you with the conversion, but I do have a nice 67 GTO frame in my garage that I would let go pretty cheaply to someone who can come and get it. I am in the Suburbs of Chicago, PM me if you are interested

wait for a pontiac frame, and try to snag a convertible frame if you can. They are boxed. Also the spring pig tail areas are different on 67 so try to get a 67 frame if you can.
I am looking for a frame my self. No rust issues but rather I found a small patch on my existing frame (under the front left body mount) and now I don't trust it (car went 10 years without a problem and is still fine - it is just a personal pet peve) |

the wagon frame is not a good match, try to get a convertible or hardtop frame.
