Default Rebuilding rear disc brake calipers

Does anyone have an exploded diagram or instructions on how to rebuild the rear calipers?

Unless you have a sentimental attachment to your calipers, trade them in at your favourite auto parts store for two rebuilt ones. I first attempted a rebuild on these calipers back in 1981 and it's no more fun, now. Most parts are hard to get and some seals are easily damaged. There are several special tools required, and the actuators,(pistons) for the 1979 model year are different than 1980-81. Just be sure to replace your caliper bolts and sleeves. Top quality rebuilt calipers come with sleeves, other only with the "O" rings. Get the best ones you can afford. If I remember correctly, the genuine GM pad sets number 18005292 come with sleeve and "O" rings, along with a boot and seal package, #18005442. Also a good idea to replace the shoe spring kit, #18004026, two reguired.

But wait, there's more; the parking brake cable mounting bracket and bolt kit is different for the 1981 model year from the 1979-80 model years.

Are you having fun, yet?

I posted this question for a friend of mine. He got the same advice at tonight's meeting of our local T/A club. Thank you for the reply.

Ive got same calipers on my 78 seville.
been thru about 3 rebuilts in 20 yrs.
Ive found that if you dont use the parking brake every time
they will freeze up and break that thin washer inside.
What a PITA these are.
I thought all interal parts were the same for 77-9 Seville and 79-81 TA.
I guess not??

Here's a easy, step by step link I used to rebuild rear calipers for the '79.
