Doug,

Are those tires still available? I had a guy look them up for me & we never were able to find them. I have a bad one on a car that I need to replace. They have been on the car so long, I figured it was possible they were not made anymore.

Black is so nice. I can not wait until I get my black '66 2 door back in action. It is not all black, but almost.

Dream car. Black on black with eight lugs. I tell myself one day. Maybe I will clone mine into one if I ever get to do a body off resto. I wonder if their ever was a white on white 65 built. That would look cool.

Guys, for some reason i thought the stripes were the same width. Is that how the original brochure is?I have the article with that black car.Does it have the 1/8 inch stripe on the top? That would be upside down for most cars.

I have a set of fenders that still has the original pinstriping. I will take a close up pic and measure. They are put up but I will get out just to verify.

This is for Deadhead, The tires on my old black 2+2 in that picture are no longer available. I sold the car a couple of years ago (I wish I had kept it) ,just before I sold it I purchased a set of redlines from Diamond Black Classics, and the guy I sold it too put them on. It looked great with the black paint and red pinstripes.

This is for J Glasgo, I researched the size and placement of the pinstripe several years ago when I restored the black car , and also owned a 65 2+2 in 1968 while I was in high school. The size I replied too is correct, and the placement in the pictures is also correct, the top stripe being larger than the bottom stripe. Also the two pinstripes on the 65 2+2 never touch or meet at the ends as on other cars. They start at the headlamp bezel seperately and vanish at the end of the quarter panel extension also seperately. Hope this helps. I think I sold you a radiator a few weeks ago, did it work OK?
Regards, Doug

Default pinstripe size pics with ruler

This took alot of pictures to get the flash right. I know the size Doug posted. The larger stripe starts 1/4 inch down and measures 3/32nds. These being original could the stripe have shrunk 1/64 over 42 years? The smaller stripe is 1/16th. There is 1/8th gap between the 2 stripes.
Hope this helps.

Patrick,

I believe your measurments are correct, minus the Seinfeld factor (shrinkage).. You can even get the proper stripping tape to paint those puppies back on.

Thanks for the new Wallpaper Doug. Gorgeous! I have a question for you guys: the louvers. Painted or chrome? I've seen them both, mine are chrome, but which is correct?

The edge of the louvers were chrome, the rest was painted body color.

Jerry H is correct.I have seen both ways, but i owned a 65 back in 1968 that was original and untouched, and it was the way JerryH described. Outer edge chrome and the rest body color.
