65 and 66 are different - 66 has a bigger center carb. If you are putting it on a big car - stock they used a BIG air cleaner - expensive and hard to find, GTO's had the three pots.

You can also check out the links below:

You can do a search here for tripower and then spends days reading the posts.

Right, there's lots of tripower info to be found on this forum, just use the search feature and feel more than free to ask questions right here!

Correct Intake manifold casting number for 65 tri power is
9778818

This is the same manifold used on the big cars as well as on the GTO

The carbs are the most expensive part on these setups.
In 65 the center carb was a little smaller than the end carbs.
Ask away!

Originally the auto big cars used vacuum linkage. This complicated distillery of crap was pretty much disposed of by all who ran these on big cars. Some time ago I posted an exploded diagram of it all.

It is important to get the geometry of the linkage right - rods at right angles to the carbs etc. to prevent binding. There are a bunch of small Pcs you need to make it all work properly. They are expensive, but you would save yourself a ton of headaches if you bought one that was already complete.

Once you get it set up & adjusted so the outboards open at WOT, it is not that big a deal keeping it all going. The airhorns do tend to loosen up & you have to continuously make sure they are tightened.

It is cool, but as somebody with both, I think that other than for eye candy and the grins & giggles you can get running in 2nd & opening the outboards at will, you are better off with a good 4bbl.

a little blue loctite on the carb screws slows down the loosening action.

the adjustments are the tricky part of trips.

my g/p'll probably end up with the set up i had set back for the gto.

Just keep your other manifold all made up. I am going to build a 4bbl for my GP once I get the engine freshened in my '66 wagon.

I will be curious to see how they compare for you.
