Default Dumb 78-83 4-door A/G body Question

I just drug home an 1983 Cutlass Cruiser Wagon (I know its not a Pontiac but I like it any way) And I didn't realize the rear door's windows don't roll down (only the vent windows open) utill after I had brought it home!!!!! Going through my olds manuals it shows that power rear door vent windows were available, does anyone remember seeing a car with Pwr rear vent windows?
The car has quite a few options, but no Pwr accessories like seats, windows, or locks. I an thinking of adding the option if I can run accross the parts.

my friend's parents had a 4 door cutlass that had the power vent windows. i remember that because i thought it was kinda silly that the only rear windows that actually moved were vent windows.

I recently sold an 85 Bonneville with power vent windows and sold an extra pair from a parts car on ebay. They were from a Bonny as well. The electric switches said "vent" on them.

Thanks for the info, at least now I know for shure that they were made. And I agree that it is silly that the main windows don't roll down, and my dogs don't like it either!

haha...but i was really thinking about how you could make the windows go down. you could probably get the mechanism out of an earlier 4dr A body, shorten the glass holder...the regulator could probalby be made to work...you may end up with 4 windows that go down and the vent windows opening.

yes you probably could even then they only went down like 5" or so. but it sure would beat just the vent windows

I have a few articles about the '78 A/G bodies that I bought back when I had a '78 Grand Lemans.

One article explians why the rear windows on the 4 doors do not move. These cars were downsized from the '77 models, and the engineers were struggling with how to make them physically smaller without the occupants feeling cramped. Removing the window regulators allowed the doors to be narrower, and for the rear passengers to subsequently enjoy more elbow room.

That makes some sense, but I still think weight reduction & cost had something to do with it.
And I just missed a set at the local pic-a-part an 86 Bonneville that wasn't there 2 weeks ago, but someone else got the drivers door, all 3 other door panels & switches, and the drivers rear vent window. I thought about snagging the 2 rear vent window motors, but then I would probebly find a complete doner. Oh Well.

If you ever need a set of mint red door panels for a 4-door of this vintage, let me know. I saved the set from my 4-door '78 Grand Lemans.

Bull,

I apreciate the offer, but my cars interior is blue, and most of it besides the tailgates inner plastic is in great shape.

As far as I know, the Grand Lemans and the Grand Am would use the same door panels, yes. But, I am not a 2nd gen Grand Am expert, by any means.

They would physically work, yes.
Lemans has different design door panels.
Grand Lemans and Grand Am are the same. 78, 79 and 80 all having different designs.
But, this isnt always 100% true, except for the 2 doors that I've seen.
Bull, I still dont have a red interior 4 door.............

Bull, could you post a link to that topic? My camera is broken and only got cell phone pictures of those cars on the carrier.
The wagon was a Bonneville and only 2 Grand Ams. The other three were Grand Lemans or maybe a lemans in there.
I bought most of his Grand Ams and "stuff" last weekend.

I posted this picture of some of mine leaving Delaware a while back.

So, what is the story on the cars in the pic on Malibuthunder? You just bought them from someone, or you are moving your collection to a new location?
