Default R.R.E. lifter brace

Rock and Roll engineering shows a fairly simple and inexpensive lifter brace. Has anyone tried this with any success. It looks easy to install. I thought it may be alot easier for me then a larger one. Any opinions....thoughts?

Search RRE in the forums. There is a few good Pontiac suppliers that sell those. They are not necessarily needed unless you are running a large solid roller.

Exactly, waste of money. The Kauffman brace is not the best one either.Better than Fulpers pile though.I bought one of Kauffmans and did not use it.I will give you a good deal on it if you want it.But I am not into drilling and tapping right on top of the front and rear cam bearing bosses.Even then you could tear it out of a motor with a big pry bar.
The Mega Brace is the way to go.It does require some fitting but once it is in it is not going anywhere and will work as advertised.

RRE's brace is a POS. Order the SD Performance Brace. You can order it from SD Performance, Butler, or RSB Motorsports. There maybe more that sell it but these are the only people that I know of.

Because of his business ethics (or lack thereof). He's screwed over many people in the Pontiac community. Hit the archives if you want to learn more.

Hey! I'm diggin' that Smurf Blue Glyptal paint in the lifter valley!

I think I know what you're leaning at, so correct me if I am wrong.

The Mega-Brace only reinforces (or bolsters) the #2 and #6 intake lifter bores. These bores do not have any support on the thrust side of the walls, and when running high lift/long duration roller cams, they tend to crack or outright "explode" from the forces imparted on them by such cams. The Mega-Brace DOES NOT strengthen the integrity of the block in the lifter valley to prevent the block from splitting up the middle between the mains and the cam bores. So it's not a question of how much HP you are making before needing such a brace in a factory block, it's how much of a roller cam you're running.

RAIV455 & Brian, you both better look at Goatroper's picture again. If you really look, those are the 4 valve relief pistons.
