Default Humbler...The Legend

I guess the member "Humbler" reminded me of this...

A couple of years ago I remember a man telling me that "Back in the day" after emissions restrictions began choking up big cube motors, Pontiac began putting smaller cams in their 455's and pretty much leaving everything else the same to where you could go buy one and slap in a cam and you could run down the track pretty well. Giving this motor a nick-name "The Humbler" because its owners where very humble with its performance once they made this transition of camshafts.

I am sure that I havent recited this story as well as it was originally told to me thats why I decided to ask you guys. Not to mention given current age of 22, during the 70's I wasnt even thought of, otherwise I probably would have heard of this story.

If I'm wrong or way off base someone please tell me I would like to know.

Thanks again guys.

I think it means that you can humble the competition because it was "fast".It was the nickname of the 70 gto.

'67 was "The Great One", at least according to Pontiac marketing. It was the campaign following the demise of the Tiger GRRRR which ended in '66. '68 heralded the lineage and evolution of the Goat and of course the MTCOY award.

BIG difference here.

A Drive In was a place you cruised & hung out & was generally full of COOL CARS & PEOPLE.
Your food order was taken & delivered by a cute looking 17 year old girl.(that flirted with you)
Later technology involved ordering on an intercom.

A Drive Thru (as we all know) is where some pimply faced kid with fishhooks in his lips, sneezes on your food as he hands it to you while listening to someone MORE IMPORTANT than you on his radio headset.

I think technology is LOOSING GROUND!
Customer Service sure is.
