Default what rear axle do i have?

hi who can tell me what axle I have in my 66 gto it is casting #9783393 with a casting date of c306. It should be a YE code with 3.08 posi. heres the problem I only find a SC code on the right tube and its upside down and backwards, so it looks like a backwards C and a S. It has 3.08s but its a open rearend, Olds had a sc code non posi 66 but not sure if it would be same casting, it also had 3.08s Is there anything on the carrier that makes it a pontiac or olds . thanks for any help

The best way to find out is to open the cover and count the teeth on the ring and pinion. Let us know what you find.

Hi thanks for the help brain. What im really trying to find out is this housing a pontiac housing or a olds housing , or a missed stamped pontiac. Not all GM housings looked the same, buicks had a different carrier section. Im restoring a 66 gto and im not sure if I should go ahead with this rearend. Agian thanks for any help.

That's the correct casting number for a '66-'67 Pontiac. Apparently, the same casting was used on "A" and "F" Bodies. The axle tubes were different lengths to fit the bodies. I found the info. by doing a Google search for 9783393 rear end.
