Well.....there you have it Lloyd!!!......get it NOW!
That car was in Hemmings back in the early '90's.
I seriously thought about buying the car but figured a T/A was more desirable.
The seller sent a few pics of the car just in case I changed my mind.

I'm bidding, but not seriously - yet.

Any guesses as to the reserve, or what it might bring?

What do the "informed" here think it's WORTH? Remember, NOM.

HOLY CRAP!!!!!!

I've never seen a 73, only seen the 74 that's up in Mass.

Why the hell didn't they deliver those with the Formula hood and Ram Air setup?

To build SD's with the Formula hood and Ram Air would have required another EPA & drive-by noise certification. Way to many $$$$$ for such a low volume deal.

Besides, I kinda like the shaker hood appearance without the wheel opening spoilers and fender vents. Very much the stealth look, wouldn't you agree? A set of steelies and poverty caps would complete the look!

Like these two!

Wow, ten minutes from my house and I have never seen this car before. Wish that I had the cash to bid, I guess that I will have to be happy with my T/A

The engine doesn't appear to be the original?

I have seen a 73 SD Formula back in the early 80's at the POCI shows.
He and I talked quite a bit. His was a nice car.

Those cars are very cool. I especially like the look with poverty caps and no rear spoiler. Might have to build a clone some day

When I bought my previous '70 T/A (about 10 years ago), it seemed that the price for a '73 SD Formula was not that much different from a '70 RA III T/A. I remember thinking I'd get either, whichever I found first. Of course there were many more '70 T/As to pick from so I ended up with that, but shortly after I bought it two different '73 SD Formulas showed up reasonably priced in Hemmings.

I suspect they bring a lot more than a '70 T/A now.

I'd put this car at $75k, just for a guess.

Back in '94 I flew to Scottsdale Arizona to look at a Ad. blue '74 SDT/A and to my surprise the guy had a light green '74SD Formula for sale as well. That car was incredible and he also had a light blue '74SD Formula that needed a resto.
I could have had the green one for $12,500, but passed as I wanted a T/A.
Always wanted to know what happened to both those Formulas as I never saw them resurface after that.

Seller DOES state in the ad text that the car does NOT have the OEM block, but it DOES have a correct SD block.

This car IS in your SD registry I believe.

You know, that's a good question.

G80 sure as heck isn't on the invoice. Of course, the invoice only shows additional cost items.

I can't recall, but I'm wondering if posi wasn't included with the SD engine deal! That would be a whale of a tire smokin' deal if it didn't have a posi!

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm . . .

Odd-looking PHS. W66 listed as an option(?!?, mine doesn't). No rear spoiler. No rear defrost(i.e. C49). No power locks. No power windows(A31). Rally instead of honeycomb wheels. No Trim (wheelwell B96, sill&hood B85). But maybe things were different in July..

Love the car, though.

Great points, Mike. I have sent the seller an e-bay message, let's see how he replies.

Question

Looking more closely at that invoice, the font of all of the "filled in" info looks "screwy".

Also, ALL of the PHS invoices that I've ever received have had an irregular black border or background, and have always had dark areas on them. Never seen one as pretty as the one in the auction.

Lastly, when did Pontiac start putting RPO codes on the invoice? All of mine use the sales code. As an example: the sales code for Safe-T-Track is 361, the RPO code is G80.

Here are the billing history cards of two 73 Formulas both built at the Norwood plant.

Super Duty is the first, mine is the second.

Just read the invoice (and description) more closely. I see it's an original vinyl top car. Very cool -- just too bad it isn't there now.
