Default Diameter of cam's base circle

After only about 1K miles, my XE284 cam has wiped a lobe and lifter. The only cause I can imagine is the oil - after break in I changed the oil and used one without much zine/phosphorous. The valvesprings are fine (plenty of room for the lift and not too much pressure). As I now have to disassemble the engine and flush it out, I'm thinking about a different cam. My car is a '71 T/A with a 462 H.O., M-22 trans, and 3.42 rear gears. The cam was a little to "peaky" for the weight, trans (2.20 first gear) and rear gears. The engine screamed from 3,000 rpms and up, but did not have much torque below 3,000-3500 rpms.

I'm thinking about an 041 clone, but am curious if the base circles on the various cam makers are different. Since my heads and block have been cut to clean them up, I ended up needing 9.2" pushrods, and don't want to replace them. If nobody knows, I'll just try to call the various manufacturers and talk to their tech reps. I figured someone here may have one that can mic it and report back. I'm thinking about a Crower 60919, or maybe a Comp 041 replacement. Thanks for any help.
