Default Need some info on Torque Converters

I have a TH350 trans mounted to a 403 olds. Should I be looking for a converter for a TH350, or do I need to take into consideration the motor for the application? Also, anyone have a brand preferance? B&M, TCI, Hughes?

There are several applications for different TH350's does anyone know which one is correct for the 79 with a 403? (dual pattern, small pattern, wide pattern, small bolt pattern) Anyone done this before on a 79 with at 403, or know which one that I need?

All of the torque converters by B&M and TCI say "chevy" for the application and there is no mention of a any other make or model. Will this fit my TH 350 mounted to a 403? HELP!!

I am no expert, but I think the TH350 uses the small bolt pattern. what stall speed are you looking for. what is the engine setup? what type of driving are you doing. I think this is what you need to know in order to pick the correct torque converter.

Looking for a 2400-2500 rated stall. Just need to be sure that I get the right application, but there seems to be only one, and it just says "chevy" there aren't any that say olds or pontiac. Also, do I really need the anti-ballooning plate that some of them charge extra for? This is a 403 olds motor with mondello flat top pistons, olds 350 heads (64cc). Mondello JM-18-20 .488/.496 cam, and edelbrock performer intake. Has around 11.5-12:1 compression. Looking to put 3.23 gears in this car matched with the 2400-2500 rpm stall converter....

TH-350 and TH-400 converters are the same. Just look for a "chevy" converter with a dual bolt pattern and you should be set. You don't need the anti-ballon plate for your app.

I think that the "jim hand special" continental converter (do a search) might be a good candidate for your car.

I went with the Hughes 2500 for my TH350. It bolted up good with my flexplate and had no problems putting the back or it in the trany
