Default 197 HO head question

Does anyone know what the stock flow rate is for an unaltered 197 head? Also will they accept 1.65 rockers without the modification? (grinding of the pushrod hole)

Stock flow for a 197 should be in the 225-230 cfm range at 28" at .500-.550" lift.

We've had 1.6 ratio rocker arms on our HO heads without pushrod bind, but 1.65 may be neglegible. It seems that each head is different. Some accept higher ratio rockers without binding and others don't.

Not sure on the flow numbers, but I'd guess close to 220 @ 28" on the intake.

You must grind for pushrod clearance when using 1.65 rockers on the #197 HO heads. I run a set of those heads myself with 1.65s on them and they needed to clearanced.
