GTO Promo Cars
Anybody collect these? Do you think they are worth what they're asking?

Those prices seem pretty inline for the condition. The only way to get one of those cheap is if it's damaged, no box, etc...

Yeah, those prices are in line. The Red 70's can be found pretty easily, but there is a blue 70 that is not nearly as common.
If you want to see expensive, wait till some 66 or 67's come up for sale. Nice ones go for 400-$500! Mike

I have over 100 promo cars in all and most I got new and are going up just like real cars. The more a real car is worth the more the promo car is worth.

What does "non friction Promo" mean? Is this a good one?

Promos
Humbler,
I'm not an expert on these, but I've collected various toys, models etc. for years. Non-Friction just refers to the fact that these are not friction toys (i.e. you can't pull them back and watch them go) They roll freely. As for the 70, the Red 70 is pretty common and from what I've seen you should expect to pay around $75 -85 for one that is in nice shape without anything broken or cracked. Mint in the box, they were going over $100. There is also a dark blue 70, but those don't show up too often. I'm sure there are others who know more about these than I do. Matchbox, also makes a decent 1/64 scale (hot wheels sized) 70 if you're looking for versions of your car.

For the money, the 1/18 GMP diecast models are infinitely better than a factory promo (at about the same price).
I have several of the red "contest" promos, as well as a Palladium Silver, in the boxes. I don't think I've ever paid more than around $50 for the red ones, but they do usually sell for more like $100 and up. The silver was a bit more expensive... |

No I have not sold a promo in over 20 years.

There is a mystique about a promo vs a "new" diecast. TJH, you willing to part with one of your red ones?

Resto projects?
See me. Seriously, the '72 is spoken for. Just wanted to share some pix. Ron

Hot Wheels also launched a 69 GTO this year to add to the 67 GTO and a 65 GTO.
