Looking for some suggestions on the best fan to use in my 64. I just replaced the 73-400 that was in it with a 64-389. I am using 670 heads and a 66 tri-power that was on the 400. I noticed the fan is back about an extra 1 1/2 inches from thre radiator now. The 400 had a declutching fan setup on it and the strange thing I noticed was a Mopar pentagram on the fan. I am wondering if I need to get the fan closer to the radiator ( I do have a shroud for it). I was going to pitch the declutching fan and go with an original spacer but I dont want to use an original 4 blade fan. Any ideas anyone? This is a real nice car but I'm more interested in not overheating when I go for a summer cruise than I am in entering serious shows. One thing I have learned from this project is ----Whatever you think it will cost you, double it or more. Everything in the car ie. power steering pumps, brackets ect. came from the 73 400 and would not work on the 389 so what started as what I thought would be a simple swap has turned into a ---"Lets just give up and replace everthing with original parts project". Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

Look back through this topic for more opinion, it's been fully covered.
My opinion for best cooling is: flex fan, flex fan or flex fan. [ 19.5" diam Flex-a -Lite ] |

Geoff, I disagree with you, I think he should go with a Flex fan
