Default E-Head Questions...

I'm leaning towards the 50-state E-Heads, but have a couple of questions.
1) Is the heat cross-over blocked off?
2) Can I use A/C brackets?

E heads have all the accessory bolts in the end of the heads.

The 87cc have a crossover the 72ccs don't.

1) Is the heat cross-over blocked off? No, but much smaller opening than on stock cast iron heads.
2) Can I use A/C brackets? Yes, has the same bolt bosses as stock heads.

They have 87cc combustion chambers and will give roughly 8.7:1-9.2:1 CR with a 400 block, depending on bore and deck height. 9.8:1-10.3:1 with a 455, again, depending on bore and deck height. All of which will work fine with pump gas.

I believe (I could be wrong) that the 72cc versions are not considered the "50 state legal" versions, due to the fact that they don't have the heat crossover.

Does anybody make "ready-to-install" block off plates that I can use with the E-Heads?
I'm getting the 87cc "50-state" ones just in case they start inspections in my area, which might happen since I live close to the Smoky Mtns, and there has been some recent outcry over emmission problems in the Smokies.
Anyway, I'm getting the Eagle 4.25" stroker kit, and will end up with ~462", comes with SRP flat tops w/5cc reliefs, and looks like I'll end putting them .005 in the hole.
Not sure what head gaskets I'll use, but, I'd like to get ~10:1 compression when it's all done.

You can thread the cross over holes in the e-heads and block them with a pipe plug. I believe 1/2" pipe would be the correct size.

I was just clarifying which ones did not have the crossovers, as you said its why the 87s are "legal". All types have have the complete set of accessory holes, unlike iron D ports.

As Hammered said you can pipe plug the 87cc crossover. The heat crossover also just goes to one port I believe. You can see the passage in the 72cc casting also.

I think its a 3/8 hole.... allen head set-screw works great.

I did as Hammered said, I tapped and plugged the crossover in my 87cc Eheads using a 1/2" pipe plug that uses an allen wrench to insert them. And yes, the crossover only goes in to one port. I also added a little anti-seize (per Butler's reccomendation) just incase I ever want to try to get them back out. Now there's no block off plates to worry about blowing out or leaking!

Felpo 1233 gaskets come with a block-off "panel".
The hole in the E-head can be tapped to 1/4" NPT easily.

My bad!! It is 1/4" NPT. Just went out to the garage to check the tap that I used.
