Clarifaction
I had no problems relocating the cross member my problems were with bolting the trany to the cross member. the car had a 1968 2 speed and it has been changed to a 400 turbo out of a cady. The trans mount on the tail shaft is wrong and u have no idea how to fix

Firebird's take a special cross member for TH400 installations...this might be the case for GTO's as well (Sorry my goat is a 4 spd so I can't walk out the garage and check for you).. Perhaps a Caddy tranny has a different length tail shaft...I thought GTO's took the short tail shaft (just as Firebird's do).
I don't have an answer for you either just some thoughts...hope they help |

if i am understanding you correctly, you need the mount between the crossmember and the transmission? you can just ask for a turbo 400 tranny mount for a gto at any parts store that carries them, and you should be good to go. i found mine at napa.
