I need a new oil dipstick tube (about 9 inches long) for my 69 400 in my 67 Firebird. I torn mine trying to take it out. Where should I get one ? Are the cheap chrome ones on ebay ok ? What is the best source for those ?

If you're talking about the "upper" tube (pressed into the block from the crankcase side), we get ours from PY. The lower tube (the one through the windage tray) is also available from them. Avoid ANYTHING "cheap" on E-Bay unless you KNOW the source of the part. Many horror stories of "it should have fit"...

I second this. Recently ordered a cheapie chrome one and it didn't come close to fitting. I then ordered my upper from Ames and it fit perfectly.

Thanks a lot, guys. I'll probably get it here. It is the one that squeezes in the block that I need, not the one in the windage tray. Thanks again. Frank.

I just got the upper and lower dipstick tube from PY and they worked great!
