Has anyone ever dealt with Paul Delfeld and his 67 GTO Ram Air Manifolds that he reproduces? I read somewhere he even opens the collectors for 2.5" exhaust systems? Comments please

Yup, used his d-port and had his round port RA's as well as the long branch. All look great and super quality. He's a good guy who stands behind his work.

I am currently rebuilding a RA III for a friends 69 Judge. He switched from headers to RA manifolds, they look and fit very good.

Just put a set of RARE D ports ex manifolds on my '68GTO.

Fit and finish was excellent. He even sends all the attaching hardware

Easy install, just read the directions he sends with the manifolds.

On the collector,I don't recommend opening them up,no need to really. just my opinion, but I feel the iron in this area would be mighty thin, and you can still use a 2.5" system without the collector being opened up.like I said just an opinion others may feel different.

also, make sure you get the Flanges from him.
if you wish to use them with a 2.5" exhaust system you WILL have to open them up about 1/16" on a lathe.

Hope I helped......Al

I have 2 sets. I also have a set of originals. The repops from RamAir Restorations are a better quality piece than the originals. I bought the first set in 1993 and have had no problems. The second set was bored out to 2 1/2" and have been on the wagon since 1997, and like the first set, hav had no problems.
Paul and his father, Paul Sr. are good people.

Ditto the above comments about RARE manifolds! I have a set of '67 d ports, opened to 2.5", and they are really nice! Fit perfectly too!

I am still waiting too! Apparently, he a set back with arthritis that kept him out of his shop. He is really a nice guy and he feels bad about the delay. He should be shipping out very soon.

I put a set on my 455 w/ the edelerock rpm heads 3yrs ago. I had him coat them as well. The finish looks today like it did the day I got them. Awesome! Paul was great to deal with. Had absolutly no problems.

How much do the manifolds have to be opened up to get 2.5" in the collector area? I wouldn't think there would be much material available to remove...so doesn't it make your collector very thin in opposition to the small amount (if any) flow you would gain?

Scott,

Are yours jet coated and what kind of prices are charged? Thanks alot!

Outlets...
-Factory roundport (RAII, RA4 & 455HO) manifolds will measure 2.25" (don't have any SD manifolds)
-Factory '69 & 70 D-port A-body RA man's measure 2.1875"...

With both, def flow advantage with bigger bore manifold outlet & headpipes. The RARE manifolds are thinner in the outlet but I haven't heard anyone complaining about them being thin & cracking.

Bab...$309 for 1 pr uncoated back in'99. Add $120 for ceramic coating. I take my car to several weekly cruises plus weekend driving. Manifolds have not discolored even slightly.
