Well this is a first post...

I have a 69 bird with the 350 engine, Originally it was 2-barrel, but that was switched to a 4 barrel to give it a little more ommph. It is more of the creature comfort car, with factory a/c and ps/pb.

I am in the process of redoing the interior, the original interior was dyed white, and that is being replaced with the original M27 parchment interior. New carpet, seat covers and a stereo, mounted in the trunk to boot.

My first question is, the firebird has a round interior dome light. Is that stock or is the oval dome light the appropriate one for use on the 69?

The second, is there any place that would have the stock radio. I could use a replacement since the original is long gone.

yes the 69 had the round dome light. I have found that many of the repo catalogs show the oval one for 69 but there not right
I have not seen any org. radios for the 69 , only for the 67,68 and 70 and up.
you might find one on e-bay

as others said, 69 radio is one year only ,very hard to find...EBay has them sometimes, but go fairly high, even non working ones (to fill the non cut dash hole, or have redone..), if your dash is already cut , you can use just about anything...mine was cut , I use a Kenwood am/fm/ cassette...

this is how the new stereo is mounted

it is a sony reciever mounted with a universal underdash kit in the trunk. It has a tilt panel that makes it easier to see. I have a wired remote control that will be mounted in the console, and provisions for an I-Pod that will also be mounted in the console.

It was just too difficult to mount anything in the front dash, because the knobs are set deep and are offset.

I saw this last night on evilbay: 1969 FB Radio

You could have it converted to FM/CD controller for a functional but factory look.

$152 is too rich for my blood, thanks.

The audio is much better hardwired as well.

Talking 69 AM Radio

I got mine on eBay 4 yrs ago - it wasn't advertised as a 69, but the pics looked good & the seller checked some dimensions to confirm the long buttons. Got lucky - $20 - keep your eyes open!

Try GM sport salvage in San Jose. They move/part more Firebirds and Camaros than I thought existed.
