I have a friend with an 81 TA that has a Chevy 305 and a manual tranny. He wants to take my old Pontiac 350 and throw it in his. What would it take to mate that up with his tranny? And what else would he need to get the job done?

The trans wont be any problem. He will need a Pontiac bellhousing and flywheel. He is also going to need Pontiac motor mounts, exhaust manifolds, accessory mounting brackets. Posibly a Pontiac clutch bell crank, clutch fork and adjuster rod.

I'm not familiar with the older manuals. So you can buy a whole different bellhousing? Where would you get something like that? What type of trannys were put in older Ponchos?

The tranny will bolt up only a BOP bellhousing pattern will be needed. It should have a Borg warner Super T-10 in it now.

Go to the parts wanted section of the forum and place a request. Also try flea markets.

If he is going to need acc brackets i would be willing to do some trading for the 305 brackets, if he is interested.
