I have used an early timing cover (4 bolt water pump) on later blocks but I had to put a plug in the timing covers upper drivers side hole.

So hey guys i looked at my 64 389 timing cover and i can see why i would have to use the 64 389 harmonic balancer also .. the 455 balancer is bigger and it would hit the timing peg on the 389 timing cover SO being that the 389 harmonic balancer is smaller then the 455 will it still work on my 455 if i use the 389 timing cover and 389 balancer ????????
