have a 72 with unknown year 400ci ??? engine (so I was told). Trans has a kick down cable. Where does it go? on throttle linkage? on a vacuum dash pot? Three speed auto trans.

Your '72 accelerator pedal should have two sockets to receive both the throttle cable and kick-down cable. There are two small square holes on the firewall just below the wiper motor that each cable is fed through.

The block cast number and date codes will help you identify the engine. Those castings are located at the rear of the block near the distributor. That transmission may in fact be a TH350. The easiest way to tell is the shape of the pan.

thanks, Rob
I see the second hole in the firewall
the acc has only one spot for the throttle cable (maybe needs to be replaced).
The kick down from the trans though has a fitting on the end...long oval with adjusting screw, and further down the cable complex something that looks like it would clip into a 3/4 " square hole with round assembly with coil spring behind. Does this maybe mount in engine compartment somewhere and then cable to acc?

Thanks!!!
