i use the weld in connectors from SSM(southside machine), in my '79. they are box tubing and extend about 10" fore and aft of the sub-frame which gives much more structural strength than the typical end-to-end frame connectors, when welded.
however, they weld to the bottoms of the subframes, so you'll give up about an 1.5" of ground clearance there is no irreversable floorboard cutting involved either.

I have a pair of Competition engineering subframe connectors for that year/car. they are weld-in. A guy on here uses them, has not heard him complain (speak up here!) if you want to buy them (new in the box) let me know.

Would that be me? The CE weld-ins I have went right in without any cutting or modifying to the existing floorpans on the car. I don't understand why Charlie's didn't. Hey, they work, what else can I say?
