I'm assuming this is an easy answer (one way or the other!) if you've done this before!

I'll be dropping my 400 and tranny back in the 71 bird and have a set of tri-y headers. What am I better off doing, installing after I drop in or is there enough room to do it as a package?

Thanks!

Mark

Mark, I have never tried to intall an engine with the headers on , with my birds.

From my experience it would not be a smooth install, And wouldent want to ding up your new headers( if their are coated)!

Mark,

When I did my 70 Bird, I slid the headers in when I had the engine about six inches from the engine mounts. when the engine was about an inch from the engine mounts, I put the bolts in finger tight and dropped the engine all the way in. When the engine was all the way in, I tightened the bolts.

Yup, this is the way to go... I did the exact same thing when I dropped my 400 in my 73, and reversed it when I pulled it out several years later. Much more room to get at the bolts to start the threads this way.
